Female basketball players have qualified for the World Championships
Eight European teams will compete in the 2026 Women's Basketball World Championships, following qualification tournaments held in four countries.
The 2026 Women's Basketball World Championships will feature eight teams from Europe after qualification tournaments concluded recently. The host nation Germany and reigning European champions Belgium, along with Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, France, Turkey, and Hungary, secured their spots during these qualifiers. These tournaments took place across four countries: China, Puerto Rico, Turkey, and France, with each location hosting a separate event with six teams participating.
In addition to the European qualifiers, teams from other continents like the United States and Puerto Rico from the Americas, as well as Australia, China, Japan, and South Korea from Asia and Oceania, will also take part in the event. From Africa, Nigeria and Mali have also qualified, bringing the total number of teams competing in the World Championships to 16. The championships will be held in Germany from September 4 to 13, showcasing a diverse range of global talent in women's basketball.
The qualification process emphasized the growth and competitiveness of women's basketball internationally, with the involvement of varied teams from different regions.
