Federal Police and PM execute warrants against drug trafficking and illegal arms trade in the interior of SP
Brazil's Federal Police and Military Police have executed multiple search and arrest warrants targeting drug trafficking and illegal arms trade across several states.
The Federal Police (PF) of Brazil, in conjunction with the Military Police, have launched a significant operation dubbed 'Dry Fall' aimed at curbing drug trafficking and the illegal arms trade. A total of 35 search and seizure warrants and 37 temporary arrest warrants were authorized by the judiciary. In specific cities within SΓ£o Paulo state, such as Rio Claro and Araras, law enforcement officials carried out several searches and arrests, indicating a well-coordinated crackdown on organized crime in the region.
The operation extended beyond SΓ£o Paulo, implicating areas in the states of Minas Gerais, ParanΓ‘, and Rio de Janeiro. Notably, in Rio de Janeiro, 10 temporary arrest warrants were executed, underscoring the operation's broad reach. Authorities also reported on financial actions taken against suspected criminals, including the blockage of around 150 bank accounts and the potential seizure of assets, amounting to up to R$70 million. This financial scrutiny aims to disrupt the economic foundations of the targeted criminal networks.
The implications of the Dry Fall operation highlight a robust approach by Brazilian law enforcement to tackle not only the trafficking of narcotics and arms but also to dismantle the financial support structures for these illegal activities. The capture of various suspects and the suspension of activities in 20 companies suspected of illicit dealings target both the suppliers and facilitators of crime, indicating an escalation in efforts to restore public safety and combat organized crime in the country.
