Aktor Group: Investing in the Mining Sector of Albania
Aktor Group has signed a framework agreement with BNI Foundation for exclusive strategic collaboration in the mining sector in Albania.
Aktor Group, a construction and engineering company based in Greece, has announced a strategic partnership with BNI Foundation to explore, develop, and exploit mining resources in Albania. The agreement, signed on Wednesday, establishes a joint venture that will be controlled by Aktor Metal, a subsidiary of Aktor Group, which will hold a 51% stake, while BNI Foundation will own the remaining 49% through its subsidiaries. This joint venture is intended to focus on specific minerals, including significant deposits of nickel and rare earth elements located in the Bilisht area of Albania.
The partnership aims to leverage the estimated mining potential in the region, which is projected to exceed 500,000 tons of nickel and over 25,000 tons of cobalt. This agreement indicates a growing interest in the Albanian mining sector, which has been gaining attention from foreign investors due to its mineral wealth. The initiative not only underscores Aktor Group's commitment to expanding its operations beyond Greece but also highlights the potential for Albanian resources to play a significant role in the European mining industry.
Additionally, the agreement includes plans for the development, construction, and operation of the necessary infrastructure, facilities, and processing units required to support mining activities. This development could create jobs and stimulate local economic growth in the region, making it a significant contribution to Albania's mining industry and economic landscape over the coming years.
