On Wednesday morning, police initiated an operation in Vila Kennedy, Brazil, to search for the perpetrators responsible for the murder of military policeman Marcelo José Batista. The officer was fatally shot in April of the previous year while using the expressway towards the West Zone around 4:30 AM; he was ambushed by criminals who left his vehicle riddled with bullets. Following the attack, the assailants fled the scene, leaving the police with a crime that has not yet seen a resolution.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers from the Special Highways Patrol Battalion (BPVE) discovered the victim’s car with its doors ajar and a firearm located under the deceased officer's body.
