A substantial reward for Posti's CEO for the listing
Posti's CEO Antti Jääskeläinen received a significant reward of 510,300 euros for the company's listing last year, as reported in Posti's annual report.
Posti, the Finnish postal service, has disclosed that its CEO, Antti Jääskeläinen, received a substantial remuneration of 510,300 euros for facilitating the company's public listing in the previous year. The annual report, released on Tuesday, reveals that Jääskeläinen's deputy, Timo Karppinen, also benefitted with a payment of 327,600 euros. Both executives have committed to utilizing a portion of their listing rewards to purchase shares in the company’s employee offering, thereby aligning their interests with that of the employees and shareholders.
Specifically, Jääskeläinen acquired a total of 71,202 shares through the employee offering, with 29,029 of those shares being funded by the reward he received from the listing. Karppinen, on the other hand, procured 28,348 shares, using 21,722 euros from his listing reward. The pricing for the employee offering was set at a 10% discount compared to the public sales price during the listing, which provided Jääskeläinen with a 53,402 euro advantage and Karppinen with 21,261 euros. This strategic investment showcases the executives’ confidence in Posti's future and their long-term commitment to the company.
The total compensation for Jääskeläinen last year amounted to 1,214,322 euros, underscoring a lucrative financial year for the executive amid the company’s successful public transition. This high level of remuneration raises considerations regarding corporate governance and equity, especially in a sector that is often scrutinized for its operational efficiencies and service delivery in a rapidly changing digital landscape.
