On March 18, 2023, Kaunas County Police reported a mass brawl on Laisvės Avenue at around 4 AM, sparked by four men and one woman. The participants exhibited high levels of intoxication, with blood alcohol content readings ranging from 1.01 to 1.84 for the men and 1.53 for the female participant. This event marks a troubling trend of violence in the area, being one of several such incidents documented recently.
Just days earlier, on March 15, another incident involved six young men born between 2002 and 2006 engaging in fights on the same avenue, all of whom were also found to be intoxicated. The increasing number of violent encounters is raising alarms among local authorities and the public. Damage to property, including bar inventory, was reported during these altercations, and at least one police officer was injured while responding to the disturbances.
