Smart Homes in Mexico Grow 49 Percent in Two Years
The adoption of smart devices in Mexican homes has seen a remarkable 49% growth in just two years, shifting from 20% in 2021 to 29.6% in 2023.
The integration of smart devices in Mexican households is no longer a fleeting trend; it has become an everyday reality. Recent studies indicate a significant 49% rise in the number of homes equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) smart devices, climbing from 20% in 2021 to 29.6% in 2023. This growth highlights a broader shift in lifestyle as many residents become accustomed to the conveniences offered by smart technologies.
According to the report "Smart Home in Mexico: Adoption and Trends" conducted by The CIU consulting firm, the growth rate for the adoption of smart devices like voice assistants, smart lighting, thermostats, security cameras, robot vacuums, and smart appliances has outpaced the increase in internet access. While internet connectivity only rose from 71.7% to 75.3% during the same period, the presence of smart devices jumped almost 10 percentage points, reflecting how digital infrastructure is evolving to serve as a platform for the expansion of smart living.
This shift towards smart homes not only illustrates the changing preferences of Mexican consumers but also indicates potential environmental implications, as many of these devices offer enhanced energy efficiency and automation capabilities. As more households embrace these technologies, it could lead to increased demand for products that improve daily life while also contributing to sustainability goals in the long run.
