The Hellenic Post honors the 100 years of the Academy of Athens

The Hellenic Post is releasing a commemorative stamp series to celebrate the centenary of the Academy of Athens, highlighting its contributions to scientific research and the arts.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Academy of Athens, the Hellenic Post is issuing a commemorative series of stamps that pays tribute to the significant contributions of this esteemed intellectual institution in advancing scientific research and promoting literature and the fine arts. This celebration not only marks a milestone for the Academy but also recognizes its enduring influence on Greek culture.

The stamp series features four stamps that depict illustrations from the painted decor of the Academy's grand meeting hall, showcasing scenes of mythological heroes. Additionally, one of the stamps features the exterior of the Academy's building, prominently displaying the colossal statue of Athena, who symbolizes the patronage of the arts, learning, and sciences. This thoughtful design aims to capture the essence of the Academy and its role in fostering knowledge and culture over the past century.

Along with the stamps, the series includes a First Day Cover and a Set Pack containing all products related to the commemorative issue, which are available for purchase at Hellenic Post offices and on philotelismos.gr. This initiative by the Hellenic Post not only commemorates a significant anniversary but also serves to educate the public about the Academy's vital contributions to Greek society and the arts.
