Museum being built in Ayodhya with centuries-old handwritten Ramayana

A museum in Ayodhya is being developed to showcase rare manuscripts of the Ramayana, providing a unique interactive experience for visitors.

In the holy city of Ayodhya, renowned for its deep-rooted faith, history, and tales surrounding Lord Ram, a new initiative aims to bring the stories of Ram to life in an unprecedented way. The International Ram Katha Museum is in the process of creating a space where rare manuscripts of the Ramayana, written in various languages, scripts, and epochs, will be housed under one roof. This museum aims to allow visitors not only to read and listen to the Ram Katha but to engage with it through a tactile, visual, and immersive experience.

This initiative is being led by Sanjeev Kumar Singh, the director of the International Ram Katha Museum, who describes the project as a 'collection of Yajna', wherein people are invited to donate their old manuscripts of the Ramayana. The goal is to compile every facet of the Ramayan narrative, making it accessible for people to not just study but also to feel the essence of the ancient text directly through the manuscripts’ enduring stories.

This effort is seen as pivotal in preserving the history and cultural significance of the Ramayana as well as promoting tourism in Ayodhya, ensuring that generations to come can witness the literary legacy of one of India's greatest epics. As the project progresses, it stands to enhance Ayodhya's image as a center for cultural and spiritual learning, deepening the connection between heritage and the modern narrative surrounding Lord Ram's enduring influence.
