Asaram, convicted in a rape case and currently out on interim bail for health reasons, visited Ayodhya to have a glimpse of Ram Lalla and met with several prominent saints during his visit.

Asaram Bapu, who is currently out on a six-month interim bail due to health issues related to a rape conviction, visited Ayodhya on Thursday to have a glimpse of Ram Lalla at the Ram Janmabhoomi. His visit was marked by significant security and the presence of supporters, as he took part in rituals and met with notable figures such as the general secretary of the Ram temple trust, Champat Rai, and the head of Hanuman Garhi, Raju Das. During his stay in Ayodhya, Asaram received a warm welcome from Champat Rai, to whom he presented a garland as a gesture of respect. Afterward, he proceeded to Hanuman Garhi where he was greeted by the local monks. Asaramโ€™s visit is significant not only due to his recent release from prison but also because it underscores his continued appeal among followers and the ongoing interest in the Ram temple's developments in the religious landscape of India. Speaking to reporters after the temple visit, Asaram commented on the grandeur of the temple and reflected on the spiritual experiences this visit provided him. He made a notable statement that he harbors 'neither a desire nor a pursuit,' suggesting a sense of tranquility and acceptance in his spiritual journey, despite his controversial past. His visit has attracted attention amidst ongoing discussions about religious leadership and accountability in India, raising questions about the implications of such visits by figures with legal controversies.
