They warn that such consolidation will weaken Incheon's competitive edge as a hub airport by diluting its financial and investment capabilities and burdening it with the deficits of regional airports.

The committee is comprised of various local civic and labor organizations, including the Yeongjong International City Federation and the Incheon Economic Justice Civic Alliance. The issue of airport operator consolidation has sparked political responses from local figures in the Incheon area, with prominent candidates for the Yeongjong District mayoral race publicly opposing the consolidation plan. Attending the press conference were Kim Jeong-heon, a likely candidate for the mayor of Incheon Jung-gu, and other preliminary candidates from different political parties, all voicing their rejection of the merger.

Conversely, the Korean Airport Corporation labor union supports the consolidation, advocating for a policy shift towards enhancing national balance development and strengthening public interests amid the threat of local extinction. They argue that the current airport operations have concentrated investment and policy support on Incheon Airport, leading to the neglect of regional airports. The labor union emphasizes the urgency of addressing operational inequities and urges a more equitable distribution of resources, indicating that delay would exacerbate issues facing local airports.
