The UIA expressed its concern about the industrial situation again

The UIA has reiterated its worries regarding the industrial sector's performance, calling for policies to boost activity and competitiveness.

The Unión Industrial Argentina (UIA) has once again voiced its concerns about the state of the economy and specifically the industrial sector. According to data collected by its Research Center, industrial production saw a year-on-year decline of 3.2% compared to January 2025, although there was a 3.1% increase compared to December of the previous year when adjusted for seasonal factors. This statement emerged following the second annual meeting of the Board of Directors, which was notably the first under the leadership of Maria Laura Bermúdez, who has recently taken on the role of executive director.

In the announcement, the UIA underscored the need for specific policies aimed at sustaining industrial activity and enhancing competitiveness within the sector. The increasing concern comes amid ongoing economic challenges that the country faces, which have put pressure on manufacturing businesses and employment rates. The UIA's call for a return of credit support reflects a broader push for governmental focus on revitalizing industrial growth, hoping to remedy some of the damaging impacts seen in recent months.

Maria Laura Bermúdez, who has a background in International Relations and holds a master's degree in Government Management and Development, previously worked with the Unión Industrial de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (UIPBA). Under her leadership, the UIA hopes to navigate through these pressing issues and deliver strategies that can stimulate economic recovery and promote a more robust industrial sector in Argentina.
