Fuel prices rose at least 29 gas stations in the DF; ministry sees signs of abusive price adjustment

An operation by Brazil's Consumer National Secretariat identified signs of abusive fuel price increases at 29 gas stations in the Federal District.

A recent operation conducted by the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon), which is linked to Brazil's Ministry of Justice, has found evidence of abusive price increases in fuel at a minimum of 29 gas stations in the Federal District. This operation was initiated in response to reports alleging that certain gas station chains were using the ongoing conflict in Iran to justify raising diesel prices, despite no adjustments being made by Petrobras, the state-controlled oil company.

The inspection, carried out by consumer protection agents and the Federal Police, examined not only the pricing but also the quality of the fuel sold at these gas stations across the Federal District and other states. During this initiative, Minister of Justice and Public Security Wellington CΓ©sar Lima e Silva announced that an investigation had been launched by the Federal Police to address these suspected instances of price gouging.
