On Tuesday, October 17, Aracaju marked its 171st anniversary with a series of festive activities. The celebration began with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Church of the Hill of Santo Antônio, where many Catholic residents gathered to give thanks. Following the mass, a tribute was paid to the city's founder, Inácio Barbosa, in Praça Getúlio Vargas, honoring the historical significance of the founder and the city's heritage.

In the afternoon, one of the highlights of the celebration was a performance by the Smoke Squadron (Esquadrilha da Fumaça) at Praça Fausto Cardoso, renowned for their impressive synchronized aerial maneuvers. Additionally, the recently revitalized Beco dos Cocos hosted a crafts and food fair, showcasing local artisans and culinary talents. This combination of traditional and contemporary elements marked the city's vibrant culture and community spirit.

The festivities continued with a Padê de Exu ceremony at Praça Hilton Lopes, a traditional ritual from African heritage religions symbolizing the opening of paths, communication, and prosperity. This segment of the event attracted over 100 houses of axé from the capital, accompanied by lively processions throughout the streets, reflecting Aracaju's diverse cultural tapestry and enhancing the city's sense of community and identity as they celebrated their anniversary together.
