Anniversary of Aracaju: check what opens and closes on the capital's 171st birthday
On the 171st anniversary of Aracaju, the city government announced changes to the operational hours of some administrative agencies while essential services will operate as usual.
On Tuesday, October 17, Aracaju celebrated its 171st anniversary. In recognition of this significant date, the local city government and the state administration announced various changes to the operations of public services. Essential and urgent services such as healthcare and public safety will remain operational as per their normal schedules. However, many other sectors will experience adjusted hours to give citizens an opportunity to partake in the celebrations.
Specifically, several areas of commerce have been affected by these operational changes. The Central de Abastecimento de Sergipe (Ceasa) will have partial operating hours from 3 AM to 12 PM to cater to the needs of early shoppers. According to local news, supermarkets will remain open as usual, as confirmed by the Associação Sergipana de Supermercados and the Sindicato do Comércio Varejista do Estado de Sergipe, while many retail stores in the center of Aracaju will remain closed, per the guidance from the Câmara de Dirigentes Lojistas.
Shopping centers such as Jardins and RioMar Aracaju will begin operations at noon, providing services like food courts and restaurants for those looking to celebrate the day. As Aracaju marks this milestone, the adjusted schedules reflect the city's commitment to balancing commemorations with the essential needs of the population, highlighting the unique way the community acknowledges its history and local culture.
