Two workers were injured due to an electrical shock while performing maintenance on power lines in Sorriso, Brazil.
On Tuesday, two workers suffered severe injuries from an electrical shock while they were servicing electrical lines at the Jonas Pinheiro settlement in Sorriso, located 420 km from Cuiabá. According to Kayline Konrat, a nurse involved in the rescue operation, one of the injured workers required immediate medical attention, while the other sustained minor injuries. Initially, the firefighters traveled to the scene but were informed upon arrival that the victims had already been transported by others to a nearby health facility in Vera, which is 486 km from Cuiabá.
Emergency services maintained communication with the hospital and deployed a team, including a nurse and air support from the Águia helicopter, to assist in the medical care and expedite the transfer of the more seriously injured patient to Sinop, situated 503 km from Cuiabá. Nurse Kayline Konrat reported that when they reached the hospital, the critically injured worker was already stable, indicating that the rapid response likely helped prevent more severe outcomes.
This incident highlights the risks associated with electrical work and underscores the importance of immediate medical response in accidents involving high voltage, which can lead to severe injuries or fatalities.
