Three universities in Amazonas face sanctions from the MEC after unsatisfactory performance in the Enamed
The Ministry of Education in Brazil imposed sanctions on three medical courses in Amazonas due to poor results in the Enamed exam for 2025.
The Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) has levied sanctions on various medical courses across the country following disappointing results from the National Exam for Medical Education (Enamed) of 2025. In Amazonas, three institutions—Centro Universitário Uninorte, Centro Universitário Fametro (Ceuni-Fametro), and Universidade Nilton Lins—have faced these sanctions due to their subpar performance. These measures were part of a broader initiative, as the Enamed serves to evaluate the quality of medical training in Brazil. After its initial results were released in January, 107 of the 351 assessed courses obtained unsatisfactory scores, classified as levels 1 and 2, which led to potential sanctions from the MEC.
