National Health Agency decides to sell customer portfolio of Unimed Oeste do Pará

The Brazilian National Health Agency has mandated the sale of the customer portfolio of Unimed Oeste do Pará, giving the company 30 days to transfer its clients to another operator.

The Brazilian National Health Agency (ANS) has issued Operational Resolution No. 3.115, commanding Unimed Oeste do Pará to sell its customer portfolio within 30 days of notification. This decision, signed by ANS director-president Wadih Damous Filho, was published in the official government journal. As a result, Unimed must cease the sale of new plans or products during this transition period.

The resolution stipulates that when Unimed transfers its customer base to another health operator, the new operator is required to maintain existing contractual conditions, ensuring that there are no new waiting periods for clients. Additionally, the new operator must provide a similar accredited network and continue ongoing treatments without interruption. This move aims to protect consumers who may be affected by the operational changes of Unimed Oeste do Pará.

As of now, G1 has reached out to Unimed Oeste do Pará for a statement regarding this resolution and is awaiting their response. The implications of this decision could be significant for the health insurance landscape in the region, affecting both consumers and health providers alike as they adjust to the upcoming changes.
