In the Swedish cities of Stockholm and Gothenburg, the Fire Festival was canceled this year due to ongoing pandemic concerns. However, in Malmö, approximately two hundred people gathered in Beijers Park to participate in this traditional celebration, which honors the arrival of spring and takes place on the Tuesday prior to the Persian New Year, Nouruz. Participants jumped over bonfires as a way of bidding farewell to winter, embracing a culture that holds significant meaning during these trying times.
