Federal Police executes search warrant in Amazonas in operation against child sexual abuse on the internet

The Federal Police in Brazil carried out a search and seizure operation in Amazonas as part of a nationwide effort to combat online child sexual abuse.

On Tuesday morning, the Federal Police (PF) executed a search and seizure warrant in Amazonas during Operation Digital Guardian, which targets crimes involving the sexual abuse of children and adolescents on the internet. This operation is taking place across 17 states and the Federal District, with a total of 35 search warrants issued, aimed at identifying and bringing to justice individuals who store, share, produce, or sell illegal material involving minors, particularly in virtual environments.

The operation represents a continued effort by Brazilian authorities to tackle the heinous crime of child sexual exploitation online, which is seen as one of the most serious violations against children and adolescents. The timing of this operation coincides with the enactment of Law No. 15.211/2025, known as the Digital ECA, which introduces new mechanisms for protecting children in the online space. This law aims to enhance the safeguarding of minors in digital environments and emphasizes the government's commitment to combating child exploitation.

As these efforts progress, the Brazilian government highlights the importance of both legislative measures and proactive law enforcement actions to address and eliminate online threats to children. The establishment of the National Center for Child Protection is among the initiatives rolled out under the new law, intended to create a robust framework for protecting children from online abuse and exploitation, ultimately ensuring better safety for the younger population in the digital era.
