Federal Police execute two search and seizure warrants for child and adolescent sexual abuse in the region

The Federal Police conducted search and seizure operations in Resende and Barra Mansa, Rio de Janeiro, targeting online child sexual abuse as part of a larger initiative.

On October 17, Brazilian Federal Police executed a series of search and seizure warrants in the cities of Resende and Barra Mansa, Rio de Janeiro, as part of 'Operation Digital Guardian'. This operation aims to combat child and adolescent sexual abuse on the internet across 17 states in Brazil. The initiative seeks to identify and hold accountable individuals who are involved in the illegal storage, sharing, production, or sale of child sexual abuse material online.

These coordinated searches coincided with the implementation of Law No. 15.211/2025, known as the Digital ECA, which introduces new protective measures for children and adolescents in virtual environments. This law is a significant step towards enhancing online safety for young users, reinforcing the need for vigilant parental supervision. The Federal Police carried out a total of six search warrants throughout the state of Rio de Janeiro, emphasizing a proactive approach to tackle online abuse.

Furthermore, the police urged parents to actively monitor and educate their children about safe internet use, highlighting the crucial role of parental guidance in prevention efforts. This combined initiative of law enforcement and new legislation reflects Brazil's commitment to safeguarding minors from exploitation and abuse in the rapidly evolving digital landscape, where potential risks are ever-present.
