Health workers will receive salary adjustments; understand how much each group will receive

The Bahia health department announced salary increases for health workers, with increases of up to 13.63% planned for different professional groups over the next two years.

On October 16, the Bahia State Health Department (Sesab) announced new salary adjustments for health workers, as mandated by Law No. 14.893 and Bill No. 25.918, both effective from 2025. The adjustments will see a gradual increase in salaries, with the maximum rise being 13.63% for the healthcare professional category. Furthermore, there will be an additional 4% adjustment to the Performance Incentive Grant (GID) scheduled for March 2026, aiming to further incentivize public health sector workers.

The salary increase is structured in a two-part adjustment for different occupational groups. For example, for the Public Health Services Occupational Group (GOSPS), there will be two installments in 2026; the first will be a 4% increase starting in March, followed by an additional 2.5% from June. Administrative professionals, including technical analysts, administrative assistants, and journalists, as well as those in commissioned positions, will also benefit from these increases, contributing to better workforce motivation and retention.

The implementation of these increases is expected to improve job satisfaction among health workers in Bahia, who have faced significant challenges, especially during the recent health crises. This financial recognition can lead to more robust health services in the region, ultimately benefiting public health in Bahia.'
