Garage Burns Down New BMWs, Mercedes, Fords to Sell Them Deviously

Police in Jurbarkas, Lithuania, discovered disassembled new luxury cars suspected to be stolen while executing a search warrant.

On March 6, police from the Jurbarkas Police Station, part of the Marijampolė County Police Department in Lithuania, conducted a search in garages located in the Jurbarkas region. During the operation, they uncovered disassembled parts of new vehicles, specifically luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Ford. These vehicles appeared to have been prepared for potential resale, indicating a sophisticated operation possibly involving stolen goods.

Authorities suspect that the cars may have been stolen from foreign countries, which raises concerns about cross-border vehicle theft syndicates operating within the region. The presence of high-value cars in a disassembled state points to organized crime, as the culprits must have technical knowledge and resources to dismantle and potentially reassemble the cars for sale.

In response to the incident, an investigation has been initiated at the Jurbarkas Police Station, in accordance with Article 189(1) of the Lithuanian Penal Code, which deals with theft and trafficking of stolen goods. The case is being managed by the Marijampolė District Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with the Kaunas District Prosecutor's Office, indicating the seriousness of the operation and the potential scale of the crime involved.
