Ndigbo must play pan-Nigeria politics of coalition for development β Soludo
Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo emphasizes the need for coalition politics among the Igbo to foster development during his inaugural address.
In a recent inauguration ceremony, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo was sworn in as the sixth governor of Anambra State, accompanied by his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim. The ceremony took place at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, where the state Chief Judge administered the oaths of office. The event was attended by family members and well-wishers, marking a new chapter for the leadership of Anambra State.
In his inaugural speech, Governor Soludo addressed the need for healing in Igboland. He underscored the importance of a new narrative and approach to development. Soludo argued that both the South-East region and the wider Nigeria need each other, highlighting that it is crucial for the Ndigbo to leverage their electoral power wisely. He called for the community to move beyond lamentation and instead engage strategically in politics to advocate for their interests.
Furthermore, Soludo advocated for a shift towards coalition politics, where the Ndigbo collaborate across regional lines in pursuit of development goals. By forming alliances and engaging in pan-Nigeria politics, he believes that the Igbo community can better position themselves to effect positive change and secure their development needs, ultimately benefiting both the region and the nation as a whole.
