CBSE: Second Board Exam in May, Forms to be Filled from Tomorrow

CBSE has announced the schedule for the second board exam for class 10 students, allowing them a chance to retake the exam in May if they are dissatisfied with their results.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India has provided significant relief to class 10 students by announcing a second board exam for those who are not satisfied with their main examination results. This initiative, part of the 'Two Board Exam' policy, comes as students often face pressure and anxiety regarding their performance. The schedule for this second board exam, set for May 2026, aims to streamline the process for students looking to improve their scores without wasting an academic year.

To participate in the second exam, schools are required to submit a list of candidates (LOC), which is a structured three-step process. The first phase of this process will be conducted from March 18 to March 31, 2026. Students are advised to register during this period if they wish to take the exam. The second phase will begin the day after the main examination results are declared and will last for five days, allowing students a brief window to sign up based on their results. Finally, a third phase is set for those who miss the initial deadlines, but signing up during this phase will incur a late fee which could be substantial.

Key highlights for students include that they cannot fill out the forms directly; registration must occur through their schools, and the number of examination centers will be limited. This new policy reflects CBSE's recognition of student welfare and adaptability amid the challenges faced by learners in their academic journeys, ensuring that they have opportunities to succeed even after disappointing results.
