First robot mechanics of the Lithuanian Army trained in Germany
Lithuanian soldiers have completed training in Germany to maintain and repair the robotic bomb disposal unit tEODor EVO, enhancing their operational capabilities.
The Lithuanian military has taken a significant step forward with the training of its soldiers in Germany, focusing on the maintenance and repair of the tEODor EVO, a remote-controlled tracked robot designed for reconnaissance and neutralization of dangerous objects. Previously, the military relied on specialists from the Telerob company to troubleshoot and repair any issues with the robot, which often led to delays in operations. However, with this new training, soldiers are now equipped to handle minor repairs directly at the task site, increasing their efficiency and operational readiness.
According to Sergeant Vytautas Leonavičius, the head of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit, the training involved practical exercises where they had to troubleshoot and fix pre-intentionally malfunctioned robots. The course covered reading electrical diagrams and understanding which components and control boards are interconnected. Despite the challenges presented by the complex nature of robotics, the hands-on aspect of the training proved to be both enlightening and engaging for the soldiers.
This development is not only beneficial for the operational capabilities of the Lithuanian military but also signifies a deeper collaboration with defense technology companies in Germany. By empowering their own troops to maintain sophisticated technologies like the tEODor EVO, Lithuania enhances its self-sufficiency in defense operations and strengthens its position in the regional security landscape.
