Riga City Council Committee to Decide on Mukusalas Street Promenade Next Week

The Riga City Council's Traffic and Transport Committee is set to discuss the condition of the Mukusalas Street promenade next week, focusing on reported defects.

The Traffic and Transport Committee of the Riga City Council is scheduled to convene next Wednesday, March 25th, to address the state of the Mukusalas Street promenade. Committee Chair Marta Kotello indicated that although the meeting has yet to be officially announced, it is assured to take place. The primary agenda will be to evaluate the technical condition of the promenade and the defects that have been identified.

Politician Marta Kotello emphasized that the current situation with the Mukusalas Street promenade is "absolutely unacceptable" and that the construction company will have to rectify the identified issues. Despite multiple reported defects, the Riga City Council's Department of Outdoor Spaces and Mobility reassures the public that the promenade remains safe to use.

To ensure ongoing safety, additional monitoring of the stability and safety of the railings will be conducted, with further safety measures implemented as necessary. The project carries a five-year warranty, and should inspections reveal that the defects stem from poor material usage, the responsible parties will be held accountable and must undertake corrective actions.
