The Baltic Visual Theatre Showcase will occur for the first time in Latvia from May 22 to 24, featuring the best visual theatre performances from the region.

From May 22 to 24, Latvia will host the first-ever Baltic Visual Theatre Showcase (BVTS), which will bring together the best visual theatre productions from recent years across the Baltic region. This event is set to be the largest of its kind, showcasing innovative techniques such as puppetry, object theatre, sound design, movement, and visual storytelling, while highlighting the various forms and opportunities of contemporary visual theatre in the Baltic area.

Performances will occur at three distinct venues: the Latvian Puppet Theatre, the Gertrude Street Theatre, and the Riga Circus. MārtiΕ†Ε‘ Eihe, director of the Latvian Puppet Theatre and one of the organizers of the showcase, emphasized the accessibility and diversity of the event, stating that it provides a financially reachable platform for audiences of all ages, even as young as six months. The showcase includes classic works, such as those of Shakespeare, alongside contemporary narratives, ensuring a rich variety of artistic expressions.

The BVTS organizers are committed to offering a carefully curated, innovative, and engaging program that caters to a wide audience. Thanks to the support from the State Cultural Capital Fund, the showcase promises to be an extraordinary experience that reflects the current landscape of visual theatre, making it a significant cultural event for Latvia and the Baltic region.
