Manuel Agnelli: "Enough with the myth of success, the algorithm, live events: let’s reclaim music"
Manuel Agnelli advocates for a return to creativity and authentic musical expression, distancing from the mainstream and the influence of algorithms.
In Milan, a new energy is emerging that seeks to break away from the contemporary music industry's algorithm-driven market and the overwhelming presence of talent shows like Sanremo. Spearheaded by Manuel Agnelli, along with the local collective Germi and the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers (SIAE), the project 'Suoni dal futuro' aims to create a supportive ecosystem for young artists and musicians aged 15 to 30. This initiative places a strong emphasis on creativity, copyright rights, and the shared experience of live performances, promoting original music over the pursuit of chart-topping hits. Moreover, all concerts under this project will be free of charge, encouraging inclusivity and community building.
Agnelli acknowledges the inherent contradiction of promoting such an independent scene, especially following his success on the talent show "X Factor." Despite this contradiction, his commitment to uplifting underground voices and providing a platform for genuine artistic expression is evident. This project ultimately aims to foster a community centered around music's intrinsic value rather than its commercial potential, thereby inviting a collective rediscovery of the art form. The impact of this initiative could potentially reshape how young musicians engage with the industry, emphasizing creativity and collaboration rather than competition and commodification.
