Summer: the last days of the season are expected to be hot and dry in the Piracicaba region; see forecast

The final days of summer in the Piracicaba region of Brazil are forecasted to be hot and dry, with temperatures reaching 35ºC.

As summer comes to a close in Brazil, meteorologists are predicting that the last days will be marked by unusually high temperatures and dry conditions in the Piracicaba region. With mercury levels anticipated to soar as high as 35ºC, the authorities are advising the local population to remain hydrated amidst the heat. Following substantial rainfall earlier in March, this dry spell presents a stark contrast to the weather patterns experienced just weeks before.

According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), temperatures in Piracicaba are expected to range between 18ºC and 22ºC during the night and will peak between 30ºC and 35ºC during the day starting from March 17. Neighboring cities such as Limeira and Santa Bárbara d'Oeste may experience even higher maximum temperatures, reaching 36ºC. This extreme weather event highlights the changing climatic conditions in the region, bringing with it health concerns, particularly for vulnerable populations.

Health experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) indicate that air humidity levels in the region will likely fall between 30% and 40%, a concerning statistic as humidity levels below 60% can be detrimental to human health. In light of this forecast, residents are being urged to take precautions such as staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours, and being vigilant of the heat's potential impact on health, particularly for those more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
