Engineer Eli Junior Marques de Jesus, aged 38, made headlines after catching an impressive ray weighing over 63 kg and measuring approximately 1.4 meters during a sport fishing trip on the Araguaia River in Aruanã, northwestern Goiás. The remarkable event occurred on Saturday and was documented by a friend, Dr. Ilson Messias Castro, who recorded the struggle of the creature as it was being pulled towards the boat. Eli shared his enthusiasm in the video, highlighting the thrill of fishing in Goiás.

The catch was notable not only due to the ray's substantial size but also because of the challenges faced in bringing it aboard, as Eli expressed concern about how to remove the ray from the hook.
