In a recent leadership change, Þorsteinn Jónsson, a former vehicle manufacturer and technician at the University of Iceland's Science Institute, has taken over as chairman of the Capital Region branch of the Red Cross in Iceland. This transition occurred during a significant board reshuffle announced at the annual meeting held on March 12. Notably, Fanney Birna Jónsdóttir, the outgoing chair, has passed the reins to Þorsteinn amid these changes, indicating a new direction for the organization.

The annual meeting also saw the addition of new members to the main board, with Auðbjörg Ólafsdóttir stepping in alongside two newly elected deputies, Fríða Björk Ingvarsdóttir and Jón Sigurðsson.
