Woman reports that she was beaten and robbed by her ex-partner in São Gonçalo: 'he choked me, he almost killed me'
A woman in São Gonçalo, Brazil, has reported being brutally beaten and robbed by her ex-partner, with the attack witnessed by her young son, who attempted to intervene.
A serious incident of domestic violence occurred in São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, where a woman has accused her ex-partner of beating her and stealing her belongings. The victim reported being assaulted with punches, slaps, and kicks to the point of losing consciousness. During the attack, which happened on Thursday, the aggressor not only physically harmed her but also stole money, important documents, and multiple household appliances including a refrigerator and a stove.
The incident was reported to the Special Police Station for Women's Assistance (Deam), and local authorities have initiated an investigation into the case. Medical care was provided to the woman following the assault, highlighting the urgent need for support in domestic violence situations. Disturbingly, the victim's ten-year-old son witnessed the attack and even tried to defend his mother using a knife, which indicates the severe familial impact of such violence.
In her statements, the woman emphasized that her ex-partner could not accept the end of their relationship, pointing to the broader issue of how rejection can sometimes escalate into violent behavior. This case underscores the crucial need for increased awareness and resources for protecting victims of intimate partner violence in Brazil, where such incidents remain distressingly common and often unreported.
