Gas transport ship hit near the Strait of Hormuz
A liquefied natural gas transport vessel owned by Kuwait was reportedly hit by a projectile near the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.
The shipping situation in the Strait of Hormuz has become increasingly fraught, with an incident involving a gas transport vessel owned by the Kuwaiti state oil company occurring on Tuesday, October 17. This vessel was struck by a projectile while operating 42 kilometers offshore from the Emirati port of Fujairah, a key point just outside the strait. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported minimal damage to the ship, known as Gas al-Ahmadiah, but it remains uncertain whether it was directly targeted or if it fell victim to debris from an intercepted drone, a scenario considered most likely according to various news agencies.
