Tinubu, APC not behind NNPP litigation, party tells Kwankwaso’s group

The New Nigeria Peoples Party has refuted accusations that President Bola Tinubu and the APC are instigating their ongoing legal battles.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has publicly denied allegations from a faction led by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, which claims that President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are facilitating the party's ongoing litigation. The NNPP's National Secretary, Mr. Ogini Olaposi, stated that the accusations stem from statements made by Elder Buba Galadima and his associates, who suggested that Tinubu's administration is manipulating legal cases to thwart Kwankwaso’s leadership ambitions within the party. In response, the NNPP characterized these claims as unfounded and merely an attempt to shift blame for internal conflicts stemming from Kwankwaso’s alleged autocratic tendencies.

The NNPP emphasized that the issues leading to defections and legal disputes are a direct result of Kwankwaso's behavior, asserting that he has attempted to dominate the party and sideline others, including those who initially supported him. The statement reiterated that any legal actions taken by expelled members from Kwankwaso's faction are misguided and reflect a misunderstanding of the party’s structure and goals. They highlighted that Kwankwaso was freely given the presidential candidacy and should not now tarnish the party's reputation with baseless accusations.

The party's strong rebuttal not only seeks to dispel these allegations against Tinubu and the APC but also aims to strengthen their internal solidarity and reassure members of the party's direction amid ongoing challenges. By addressing the accusations head-on, the NNPP is taking a firm stance against perceived internal threats, reinforcing their leadership and strategic vision moving forward, and hoping to quell divisions within their ranks as they navigate the political landscape.
