A truck loaded with milk overturned on the Anhanguera Highway in Americana, causing traffic blockages but resulting in no injuries.
In the early hours of Tuesday, a truck carrying milk overturned at kilometer 129 of the Anhanguera Highway (SP-330) in Americana, São Paulo. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported following the accident. According to the São Paulo Transportation Agency (Artesp), the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then collided with the metal guardrail in the median of the highway. The incident led to the complete blockage of all southbound lanes due to the spillage of the truck's cargo.
As a result of the overturned truck, significant traffic congestion ensued, with reports of approximately 1.5 kilometers of backup in the direction of the capital. The situation also affected traffic flow towards the interior, leading to additional delays. Responders were dispatched to the scene around 4 a.m. to start the cleanup process, which involved removing and reorganizing part of the spilled cargo into lanes one and three, as well as the roadside area. The concessionaire AutoBAn, which manages this stretch of the highway, confirmed that left lanes in both directions remained closed for safety.
This incident highlights the challenges of maintaining safety on busy highways, especially with large vehicles transporting goods. While no personal injuries were reported, the event underscores the importance of careful driving and adherence to safety measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Such accidents can lead to significant disruptions for commuters, emphasizing the need for timely responses from relevant authorities to address traffic incidents.
