Truck overturns and blocks stretch of Raposo Tavares Highway in Angatuba
A truck overturned on the Raposo Tavares Highway in Angatuba, blocking traffic but causing no injuries.
On Thursday morning, a truck overturned at kilometer 190 of the Raposo Tavares Highway (SP-270) in Angatuba, São Paulo. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The truck, which was carrying wood chips, overturned while attempting to return to the interior direction from the capital. This blockage necessitated the closure of all lanes as the vehicle remained immobilized on the roadway with debris spread across the lanes. The State Transport Agency of São Paulo (Artesp) reported that traffic was heavily congested between kilometers 185.7 and 190.1 in the westbound lane. To manage the situation, traffic was rerouted to the eastbound lane's first lane, allowing some movement approximately 400 meters ahead. Despite the effort to manage the situation, as of early afternoon, the truck remained at the accident site, indicating a prolonged blockage. Policing and emergency teams were deployed to handle the aftermath of the incident, aiming to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible. This accident highlights the ongoing challenges in managing heavy vehicle traffic on key highways and the implications such incidents have on transportation logistics in the region.
