Controversial construction project: District rejects crematorium in Krailling

The district authority has denied a building permit for a crematorium planned by the Ahorn Group in Krailling, raising concerns about the viability of the land sold to the company.

Five months after a plot of land near the Krailling industrial area was sold to the Ahorn Group, the plans for the construction of a crematorium have come into question. The district office of Starnberg, responsible for granting building permits, has denied the necessary permit, leading to speculation about whether the municipality, led by Mayor Rudolph Haux of the FDP, sold land that is essentially unusable for the buyers. Local businesses have also protested against the project, further complicating the situation.

The plot in question spans about 3,000 square meters and is located approximately 3.5 kilometers from the center of Krailling, on the edge of what the municipality officially calls the 'Kraillinger Innovationsmile' (KIM). This area is characterized by industrial developments, and beyond it lies a forest. The special-purpose company Novum 1 Projekt GmbH, formed specifically for this project, continues to seek a 'constructive agreement' with local authorities, warning that failure to reach an understanding could lead to claims for damages.

As the situation develops, the rejection of the building permit raises broader questions not only about the feasibility of the crematorium but also about land use planning in the municipality. The local community's response to both the project and the protests may significantly affect future developments and the relationship between local businesses and government authorities.
