Casualties and Injuries in Attacks on Baghdad and Other Areas in Iraq

Multiple rocket and drone attacks in Baghdad and surrounding regions have resulted in casualties and injuries.

Reports indicate that several rocket and drone attacks targeted the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, and nearby areas on Tuesday and Monday, leading to multiple casualties. Among the facilities impacted were a military base close to Baghdad Airport, the U.S. Embassy compound, the Rashid Hotel, and various sites associated with the Popular Mobilization Forces, as well as a residential area in Baghdad.

The attacks specifically struck the logistical support base serving the U.S. Embassy near Baghdad International Airport. This location has been a recurrent target since the outbreak of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran at the end of the previous month, indicating the escalating tensions in the region. Notably, drone incursions were reported into the U.S. Embassy compound itself, prompting immediate responses from the embassy's air defenses, which utilized the C-RAM system installed on the rooftops to intercept threats, indicating a heightened state of alert within the fortified Green Zone area of the city.

In addition to the embassy and military installations, the Rashid Hotel was also assaulted, alongside residential properties within Baghdad. Fortunately, air defense systems managed to neutralize one of the drones before it could cause harm, while another fell within the vicinity of the embassy with no injuries reported. The frequency of these attacks underscores the deteriorating security situation in Iraq amidst the broader regional conflict and poses significant challenges for both Iraqi authorities and foreign diplomatic missions operating in the country.
