The Croatian deaf futsal team secured their place in the semifinals of the European Championship following a thrilling quarterfinal match where they triumphed over Israel with a score of 5:4. The match, played in Poreč, was marked by multiple lead changes, showcasing the resilience of the Croatian team. They had to come back three times from being behind, which illustrated their determination and fighting spirit.
Israel took the lead early in the game, scoring in the fifth minute. Croatia quickly responded when Jurica Karan equalized two minutes later. Both teams scored again before halftime, resulting in a 2:2 deadlock at the break. The second half saw Israel regain the lead, pushing the score to 4:2, but the Croatian team refused to give up. Crucial goals from Viler Jović and Josip Jakovljević brought the score to 4:4 before Karan sealed the victory with a decisive goal in the 38th minute.
Coach Ante Kraljević praised his team's character and ability to bounce back from deficits, describing the match as challenging. With this victory, Croatia now turns its focus towards the semifinals scheduled for Thursday, where they will face the winner of the match between Ukraine and another contender.
