Navios Maritime Partners steps away from post-panamax vessels
Navios Maritime Partners has divested from its last post-panamax vessel as part of an extensive fleet renewal strategy initiated in 2022.
Navios Maritime Partners, a prominent US-listed shipping company, has taken a significant step in its fleet renewal initiative by selling its last remaining post-panamax vessel, the Copernicus N, a 93,062 dwt ship built in 2010. This decision aligns with a broader strategy that CEO Angeliki Frangou launched in the summer of 2022, which aims to modernize the company's fleet by divesting older vessels. According to their annual report, this sale is part of a larger trend, in which the company has sold off a total of 49 older ships, including bulk carriers, tankers, and containerships.
The total revenue from these divestitures has reached approximately 1.16 billion dollars, indicating a strong financial return from the sale of these older assets.
