Police arrest man over death in western Victoria
A man has been arrested in connection to a suspicious death in western Victoria where a body was discovered near Horsham.
In western Victoria, police have arrested a 49-year-old man from Minyip following a suspicious death investigation after a body was found in Jung. The discovery was made around 9 AM on Monday, although the deceased man, believed to be about 60 years old, has not yet been formally identified. The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation, and it is described as suspicious by authorities.
The series of events leading to the arrest unfolded the previous evening when police received reports of a man exhibiting erratic behavior on Firebrace Street in Horsham. Upon arrival, officers found the individual armed with a knife, necessitating negotiation efforts that ultimately led to his arrest by 11 PM. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for evaluation.
