A horse that escaped from its stable fell through the ice on the Kemijoki River but was rescued by its caretakers.
On Monday, a horse that had escaped from its home stable faced a perilous situation on the Kemijoki River, according to the Lapland Rescue Service. The horse wandered approximately four kilometers to the southern side of Jaatila Island, where the ice gave way under the animal's weight. Caretakers found the horse in the water around 11 PM, prompting a quick rescue effort that involved lifting the animal back onto dry land around midnight.
Despite the challenging circumstances, the rescued horse was reported to be in relatively good health, albeit exhausted from the ordeal. Following the rescue, the horse was taken back to its stable, where it could recover and warm up after its harrowing experience.
