Physical Exercises: How to Avoid Injuries That May Require Medical Attention
A bank employee suffered a muscle strain during a workout, highlighting the importance of proper warm-up and exercise techniques to prevent injuries.
André Lima, a 35-year-old bank employee, experienced a muscle strain while working out at a gym in Paço do Lumiar, Maranhão. This incident caused significant pain and mobility issues, prompting his colleagues to call for emergency medical assistance from VitalMed, a pre-hospital care service. The ambulance arrived promptly, and the healthcare team provided initial care on-site, which included a clinical assessment, application of cold compresses, and immobilization of the affected area before transporting him to a hospital for further evaluation.
Physiotherapist Felipe Cardoso, who collaborates with VitalMed, emphasized that muscle injuries are common during physical activities, particularly when there is inadequate preparation of the body. He noted that many injuries could be prevented by following proper warm-up routines, stretching before and after workouts, and using appropriate weights and equipment. Additionally, he stressed the importance of respecting one's physical limits and maintaining professional oversight during exercises to minimize risks.
This event serves as a reminder for fitness enthusiasts to prioritize safety by understanding the necessary precautions associated with physical activities. As individuals engage in more intense workouts, awareness of their body's capabilities and proper exercise protocols becomes crucial to avoiding potentially serious injuries that could lead to medical attention.
