19-year-old led schoolgirl into the forest and raped her in a heinous manner

A 19-year-old man has been accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in a forest in Helsinki after luring her from a bus stop.

In a troubling incident in Helsinki, a 19-year-old named Elias Mahad Aden has been charged with the rape of a 16-year-old girl. The incident occurred on October 5, 2023, when Aden approached the schoolgirl at a bus stop during her commute. Initially, the girl thought she was engaging in a friendly conversation, but Aden quickly turned the dialogue sexual and led her to a nearby forest, disregarding her objections and urgent need to get to school.

The situation escalated when they reached the forest, where Aden physically assaulted the girl, pushing her to the ground and subjecting her to various forms of sexual violence. After the assault, he dressed and left the scene, while the victim, although feeling guilty for no fault of her own, went to school. It was only after returning home that she contacted emergency services, revealing the distressing event, and later confided in a friend and her stepfather about what happened.

During police interrogations, Aden claimed that the encounter was consensual, which contradicts the victim's account and highlights the psychological manipulation often present in such cases. As this case unfolds, it raises significant questions about victim support, societal attitudes towards sexual violence, and the need for protective measures for vulnerable individuals in public spaces.
