PSOL calls for investigation into ITA due to students being inspired by the Epstein case
The PSOL party in São Paulo has requested a federal investigation into the ITA after students presented a project drawing inspiration from the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Members of the PSOL party in São Paulo initiated a formal request to the Federal Public Ministry for an investigation into the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA) following a disturbing incident involving students from the computer engineering program. The situation arose when students presented a computer game project in class that depicted a grim narrative inspired by the notorious Jeffrey Epstein case — featuring a 15-year-old girl held captive by six men on an island. This portrayal included the use of Epstein's photo during their presentation, sparking significant outrage and concern among lawmakers.
In light of this incident, state deputies Guilherme Cortez and the Feminist Bloc from PSOL filed a representation to the MPF urging not only for a formal inquiry to be launched but also for the ITA to commit to a national pact that addresses gender violence, an initiative championed by the Public Ministry itself. This proactive approach signals that the lawmakers are advocating for educational institutions to take firm stances against gender-based violence, ensuring that such narratives are not normalized or trivialized within academic settings.
Additionally, Cortez has reached out to the Minister of Defense, José Múcio Monteiro, to advocate for administrative actions to address the situation at ITA. The push for accountability reflects a growing awareness and intolerance towards depictions of violence and exploitation in educational contexts, emphasizing the need for institutions to foster healthy and respectful environments for all students.
