A new Chinese automaker arrives in Argentina and previews its first SUV

The Antelo Group announced the entry of Chinese brand Deepal to the Argentine market, showcasing its first plug-in hybrid SUV, the SO5, during Expoagro 2026.

At the Expoagro 2026 exhibition, the Antelo Group, which includes brands such as Mitsubishi, GWM, Changan, and JMEV, revealed that Deepal, Changan's new energy vehicle brand, will be entering the Argentine market. The highlight of their presentation was the upcoming launch of the SO5, a medium-sized plug-in hybrid SUV, aimed at consumers interested in electric vehicles. Additionally, the company introduced a financing option at a 0% interest rate of up to 18 million pesos for all vehicles sold under the group.

Deepal focuses on battery electric vehicles and extended-range models, expanding Changan's portfolio that already includes several other divisions like AVATR and Changan Nevo. The introduction of the SO5 is a significant move for the company as it seeks to capture a share of the Argentine market that is increasingly leaning towards sustainable and energy-efficient transportation options. With the emphasis on hybrid technologies, Deepal aims to attract environmentally conscious consumers looking for reliable and modern SUV options.

This launch comes at a crucial time when the automotive industry worldwide is shifting towards greener alternatives. The Argentine market is witnessing growing interest in hybrids and electric vehicles, suggesting that Deepal and the Antelo Group are positioning themselves strategically to meet this demand. By offering accessible financing, they might enhance customer interest and participation, potentially influencing the future landscape of automotive sales in the region.
