A new Chinese SUV has arrived in Argentina that promises over 1000km of autonomy
The BYD Atto 2 DM-i hybrid SUV has been launched in Argentina, boasting a dual-mode technology that offers over 1000km of driving range without frequent recharging.
The automotive market in Argentina is witnessing a significant influx of Chinese brands, with BYD leading the charge in electrification. Their latest offering, the Atto 2 DM-i, is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that aims to cater to the growing demand for hybrid vehicles in the country. This model joins BYD's existing lineup, which includes the Dolphin Mini, Yuan Pro, and Song Pro, signaling the brand's serious commitment to expanding its footprint in the Argentine automotive sector.
The Atto 2 DM-i is positioned in the competitive segment B2, which is crucial for sales in Argentina. It comes in a single, high-end GS version, equipped with advanced features to attract consumers looking for both performance and efficiency. The vehicle combines a high-powered electric motor (122 kW) with a gasoline engine (72 kW), achieving a total combined power of 156 kW and providing a torque output of 300 Nm from the electric motor and 145 Nm from the gasoline engine. This combination not only enhances performance but also contributes to the vehicle's impressive autonomy, a key selling point for the Argentine market.
As international automotive companies increasingly focus on sustainability, BYD's entry with the Atto 2 DM-i highlights the shift toward electric and hybrid vehicles in Argentina. With the promise of over 1000km autonomy, the Atto 2 DM-i could address consumer concerns regarding range anxiety, making it a significant player in a market where hybrid technology is rapidly growing. This trend may further stimulate competition among automakers and potentially accelerate the transition to more environmentally friendly transportation options in the region.
