RR producer who created bean threshing machine selected for national award in SP
Francisco Edvan Ferreira, a family farmer from Boa Vista, Brazil, has been selected to participate in a national inventors' contest for his innovative bean threshing machine.
In a significant recognition of agricultural innovation, Francisco Edvan Ferreira, a family farmer from the rural zone of Bom Intento in Boa Vista, Brazil, has been chosen to participate in the National Inventors Contest at the National Fair of Machines and Technologies for Family Agriculture, set to take place in Campinas, São Paulo. The contest, which begins on Monday, October 16th, will culminate with an awards ceremony on Wednesday, October 18th. Ferreira's participation highlights the importance of grassroots innovation in agriculture amidst Brazil's vast culinary landscape.
Ferreira's invention is a green bean threshing machine, designed and built on his own farm to expedite the labor-intensive process of threshing beans. This innovation has not only won him the 1st AgroInventor Prize of Roraima last November but also significantly increases productivity, allowing him to thresh 30 liters of beans in just one hour— a task that previously took up to four hours when done manually. The necessity of such a machine stemmed from the challenges faced by farmers in their daily work, showcasing Ferreira’s commitment to improving agricultural practices in rural communities.
Looking ahead, Ferreira plans to patent his invention, which reflects a growing trend of innovation driven by local farmers in Brazil. By leveraging simple yet effective technology, he aims to not only enhance his efficiency but to also inspire fellow farmers in the region to explore innovative solutions that can ease the burdens of agricultural work, potentially leading to more sustainable and productive farming practices across the country.
