NDA's Flag Flies High on All Five Seats in Bihar, Know the Results of Rajya Sabha Elections in 10 States
The NDA won all five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar during elections held across 10 Indian states, with significant implications for state and national politics.
On Monday, elections were held for 37 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states in India, with seven states including Assam, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana electing 26 candidates unopposed. Voting was required for the remaining 11 seats in Bihar, Odisha, and Haryana, where Bihar had 5, Odisha 4, and Haryana 2 seats at stake. Allegations of ballot secrecy violations led to objections from both BJP and Congress in Haryana, causing the vote count to be delayed for five hours and leaving the results in suspense until late at night.
The Rajya Sabha elections in Bihar attracted the most attention, featuring prominent candidates like Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and BJP National President Nitin Naveen among the NDA contenders. The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) put forward Amrendra Dhari Singh as their candidate. Ultimately, the NDA secured victory in all five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar, with all 202 MLAs participating in the voting process. Nitish Kumar received support from 44 legislators, showcasing the NDA's strong political standing and organizational efficiency in the state, which may impact future political strategies and alignments in Bihar and beyond.
